Catalan municipalities offer their cooperation to the Government to overcome the crisis

The Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) and the Associació Catalana de Municipios i Comarques (L'ACM) have expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Government in combating the economic crisis and have been willing to advocate policies that provide an outlet with criteria of equity and with the primary objective of achieving social cohesion and coexistence.

This has commented the President of the Federation of the FMC, the Mayor of Sabadell, Manuel Bustos, following approval of a joint resolution adopted within the framework of the Municipal Commission of Catalonia, which are integrated both associations.

The resolution expresses the desire of the Catalan mayors to cooperate with the Government in seeking consensus and making available the work done by councils as agents of economic recovery.

Catalan Municipal Commission also highlights the plight of the finances of the municipalities, which they describe as unsustainable, and therefore demand the governments of the State and the Generalitat an agreement with the local world for the urgent adoption of a Financing Law.

It also urges the State Government that has the local world in negotiating, through FEMP, and the latter to assist the Government in seeking consensus for the recovery of economic growth and job creation.
